Jenny Halstead, FMAA, RMIP

Jenny studied art in Surrey before being awarded a Guest Scholarship to Royal Academy Schools, alongside training in medical art. She worked in several London teaching hospitals illustrating general medicine, surgery and anatomy before turning freelance and expanding into natural history.

Works include : Gray’s Anatomy (36, 37 & 38 eds.), and a series of dinosaur story books for children.

Jenny still prefers to work conventionally, using hand-drawn techniques and this has led her back into the freedom of fine art. She has taken the knowledge of surface anatomy into the life drawing studio to teach adults and A-level students.

Her own work continues to be figurative, paintings inspired by light and its interaction with natural and man-made forms in the landscape and our environment. Working through drawing into oil, pastel as well as water-based media.
