Matt Briggs

I have been working as a Medical Artist for over 20 years developing numerous award winning illustrations and medical animations for the purposes of communicating medical information to both patients and healthcare professionals. I completed my MSc in Medical art at the University of Dundee and more recently completed my MSc in Clinical Anatomy at the Hull York Medical school.

I have undertaken several research projects investigating the use of art and technology as a tool for improving communication for patients including a series of cancer multimedia information eBooks. The illustrations and 3D animations help patients to understand and visualise the surgical option of treatment step by step, empowering them to make informed decisions about their treatment.

I enjoy using 3D technology to combine both artistic ideas with real scientific data such as CT and MRI scans to create evermore accurate and realistic representations of anatomy and science.
